Applicants must plan to further their
education in a health care field. Some qualifying fields
of study include, but are not limited to: medical records
technicians (transcription and coding), pharmacy and
pharmacy techs, laboratory techs, radiology techs,
dietetics, physical / respiratory therapy, psychology,
as well as nursing and pre-medicine.
These scholarships are available to
Chickasaw County graduating seniors. The scholarships
will be awarded to four students who exemplify character
through academic achievement, volunteerism, and extra
curricular participation. In awarding these scholarships,
strong consideration will be given to students with
financial need. However scholarships may be awarded
to promising students regardless of financial need.
A letter of reference from a school representative
must accompany the applications.
The scholarships will be paid at
the beginning of successful completion of the second
semester of the first year of college, after the Auxiliary
receives a letter of confirmation of the student's
first semester completion and second semester enrollment. Applications
must be postmarked April 1.
Number offered: 5 (1 will be awarded
to a non-traditional student)

The Mercy Medical Center – New
Hampton Auxiliary is accepting applications for the
Vianna Holschlag Nursing Scholarship, in the amount
of $1,250 - $1,500. The scholarship is available to
one student from Chickasaw County who plans to receive
higher education in the field of nursing. Applicants
may be traditional or non-traditional students, entering
or pursuing a degree in nursing.
The scholarship will be awarded to
a student who exemplifies character through academic
achievement, volunteerism, and extra curricular participation.
In awarding the scholarship, strong consideration will
be given to a student with financial need. However,
the scholarship may be awarded to a promising student,
regardless of financial need.
The Vianna Holschlag Nursing Scholarship
will be an annual scholarship and may be awarded to
the same student in successive years if the criteria
continue to be met.
A letter of reference from a school
or employer must accompany the application form. The
scholarships will be paid at the beginning of successful
completion of the second semester of the first year
of college, after the Auxiliary receives a letter of
confirmation of the student's first semester completion
and second semester enrollment.
