Skilled perioperative care is provided in the Same Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Medical/Surgical or Obstetrical Units, Operating Room Suites, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Same-Day Surgery and A.M. surgical patients are admitted to the Same Day Surgery Unit two to three hours prior to surgery.

A pre-admission visit is encouraged for all elective surgical patients. Nursing staff collects and verifies data prior to the day of surgery, does a patient assessment, starts the chart, and gets signatures. The nurse does preoperative teaching, telling you what to expect. The Pre-Admission Testing Department in general tries to assure a smooth day of surgery and quality nursing care throughout your surgical stay.
