| Healing Touch is a new and exciting addition to the Specialty
Clinic. Healing Touch is a hands-on energy therapy that
uses touch to promote health and healing. It is non-invasive,
gentle,
and effective. Healing Touch compliments traditional health care, and is useful
in combination with traditional medicine as part of an effective health care
program.
Healing Touch helps the healing process. The Healing
Touch Practitioner realigns the energy flow to eliminate
blockages. This helps clear, energize, and balance
a person’s energy field, helping to restore the
body’s balance and speed the healing process.
Healing Touch can aid in stress management by relaxing
the body and mind. It provides improved healing and
pain relief. It can help with headaches, migraines,
and head injuries. Cancer patients find it helps with
the rigors of chemotherapy and radiation. Healing Touch
is used for back and neck pain, bone fractures, grief,
arthritis, depression, PMS, viral infections, high
blood pressure, fibromyalgia, and many other situations.
Everyone can benefit from this therapy. Healing Touch
influences the whole person on all levels - physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual.
When having a Healing Touch session, please dress
comfortably. After the practitioner talks with the
patient for a few minutes, the practitioner will ask
them to lie down fully clothed on the table. The practitioner
moves her hands in a gentle motion around the body
and uses light touch. Healing Touch provides benefits
with no adverse side effects. Everyone has a different
experience. Reactions can range from a sense of calm
and relaxation to feeling energized. Many people describe
an increased sense of well-being after treatment.
Betty Meighan, RN, BSN, has more then 22 years of nursing
experience. She has been a home health nurse for
the past 8 years. Meighan’s previous nursing
experience encompassed cardiac rehabilitation, medical-surgical,
critical care, and staff education.
Meighan became interested in Healing Touch several
years ago, hearing about it for the first time at a
continuing education program on cancer pain management.
She started taking classes and became even more interested
in the therapy after seeing some amazing results in
her clients. To become a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner,
Meighan completed 120 hours of course work and an additional
100 hours of hands-on training.
