Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Abdi Ahari and Dr. Hussein Mohamed to their medical staff. Dr. Ahari and Dr. Mohamed are general surgeons from Mason City Clinic. Dr. Ahari will see patients in New Hampton every Thursday beginning on September 27. Dr. Mohamed will be available for non-scheduled surgeries.
A general surgeon is a specialist trained and qualified to provide surgical care of the whole patient. The general surgeon has expertise in the evaluation and comprehensive treatment of patients with injuries and illnesses involving a wide range of systems and anatomical regions. Dr. Ahari and Dr. Mohamed, by training, interest and professional ethics, are dedicated to the total care of the surgical patient and to coordination of the whole episode of care, consulting with other specialists when appropriate.
 Dr. Ahari graduated from the Uppsala University School of Medicine in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1995. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Mohamed attended Ain-Shams University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. His residencies were at the Medical University of South Carolina and Ain-Shams School of Medicine. Dr. Mohamed also had fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh Transplantation Institute and the Medical University of South Carolina Transplantation Institute.
Dr. Ahari will be performing scheduled, routine surgeries at Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton. Major surgeries will be performed in Mason City but patients will be able to have their pre and post surgery appointments in New Hampton.
