Orthopaedic Surgeon Joins Mercy's Medical Staff

Dr. Eric NelsonMercy Medical Center – New Hampton is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Eric Nelson to their medical staff.  Dr. Nelson is an orthopaedic surgeon from Mason City Clinic and will see patients in New Hampton every other Wednesday.

Orthopaedic surgery is concerned with acute, chronic, traumatic and overuse injuries and other disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, tendons and muscles.  Orthopaedic surgeons address ailments including arthritis, trauma and congenital deformities using both surgical and non-surgical means.  Typical procedures performed by orthopaedic surgeons include arthroscopies, carpal tunnel release, knee and hip replacements and repair of fractures.

Dr. Nelson attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and graduated in 2001.  He then went to the University of Minnesota Medical School where he completed the Orthopaedic Surgeon Residency Program.  Dr. Nelson has been with Mason City Clinic since August of 2006.

In addition to routine appointments, Dr. Nelson will be performing minor orthopaedic surgeries at Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton.  Major surgeries will be performed in Mason City but patients will be able to have their pre and post surgery appointments in New Hampton
