Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton is in need of a bladder scanner. A bladder scanner is a diagnostic tool used by nurses to measure the amount of urine in the bladder or to determine how much urine remains in the bladder after urination. Scanners are portable machines that are about the size of a laptop computer. Using the scanner on inpatients is a noninvasive procedure with a high-degree of accuracy and may enable patients to avoid catheterization. In avoiding catheterization, we are increasing patient safety by preventing infection. The cost of purchasing this bladder scanner is $12,000.
Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton is introducing a new donor recognition program called the Century Club for donors giving $100 or more. Benefits include special recognition in the newspaper and hospital newsletter and an invitation to a V.I.P. reception this Spring. For donors reaching the $1,000 giving mark (with a new donation or donations accumulating since 1998), a leaf in your name or in memory of someone will be displayed on the Giving Tree in the hospital lobby.
