Who We Are
The Friends of Mercy is a non-profit, volunteer organization in which members are people just like you who wish to support programs that benefit Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton.  This is accomplished through volunteer programs, services to the hospital and its patients, fund-raising for needed equipment and technology.

Patient, Family & Staff Services
Volunteers offer helping hands in many areas of the hospital.  They greet patients and visitors in the lobby, deliver staff mail, help prepare mailings, serve on Friends of Mercy committees and organize the Head Covers program.

Fundraising
The Friends of Mercy has made financial contributions to Mercy Medical Center – New Hampton since its inception in 1960.  Fundraising projects include bakes sales, book fairs, jewelry sales, raffles, auctions and other special events.

Community Outreach
The Friends of Mercy has health education programs to meet the needs of children, teens, older adults and special needs groups.

SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) volunteers are trained by the Iowa Insurance Division to help clients understand Medicare billing. They also assist in problem solving, filing appeals, paying bills, and providing information about supplemental and long-term care insurance.

Each year, volunteers present scholarships to five residents of Chickasaw County pursuing a healthcare related career.  The Friends own and operate the beverage vending machine in the hospital cafeteria which funds the scholarships.
